This Course is designed to introduce the students to public international law. Students will learn about the sources, the actors and the principles of international law. Throughout the course, students will discuss and examine other important topics in international law. The course will also seek to understand how international law works in practice, while recognizing its limits and complexity.

This Course provides you with contemporary issues in human rights.

“Break-down of the relations between Arabes and Israelis : causes and perspectives” is the thesis that Miss Obisesan Anuoluwapo defended on October 26, 2018 at the University Institute of Sciences and Technologies (Anglophone Department) in partial fulfilment of the school requirement for the Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations.

This research aims to discuss the breakdown of relations between the Arabs and the Israelis through different theories and factors. The overall research would ultimately conclude on what has been done and what can be done to handle the situation and its effects on the Arabs and Israelis. In addition, this research highlights the historical background of the relationship between the Arabs and the Israelis, the factors that contributed to the crisis, the different major conflicts, the international influence on the Arabs and Israelis conflicts, and the future prospects of the Israelis and the Arabs, and tries to identify any plausible solution to the crisis.

The University Institute of Sciences and Technology (UIST) hosted, on October 26, 2018, the oral defense of the thesis being submitted to the Anglophone Departement by Miss Dahlia Ahouandjinou, in partial fulfilment to the award of Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations.

The research topic is “China’s fast economic growth : an asset to the West”. According to her compendium, radically different consequences flowed from China’s interactions with the global economy during two periods, from 1860 to 1949, and from 1949 to the present. From 1860 to 1949, China’s economy stagnated. After 1949, Chinese communists regained full national sovereignty and used this control to take ownership of China’s domestic economy from both foreign and chinese investors. The global economic environment also became less military interventionist and more conducive to non-western economic development.

L’expérience enseigne que les pactes d’actionnaires sont le plus souvent méconnus ou insuffisamment utilisés dans les sociétés anonymes en Afrique. Or ces instruments conventionnels permettent de mettre en place un certain nombre de mécanismes qui s’avéreraient efficaces dans la prévention des conflits entre actionnaires dans l’espace OHADA.

Il vaut mieux prévenir que guérir. Nous prônons une approche préventive des conflits internes des sociétés anonymes de l’OHADA, et suggérons de mettre l’accent sur les pactes d’actionnaires pour prévenir ou au pire, baliser le règlement de ces conflits

The analysis of the new Code of Civil Procedure in terms of defense rights, highlights the improvements over the old code of civil procedure, with the embodiment of the guiding principles of the proceedings and the renovation of legal remedies.

The Benin legislator’s efforts are laudable and will improve the plights of litigants, even if the Benin Code of Civil Procedure could be criticised for reflecting too much the French law. Indeed, the provisions in the French code of civil procedure have been reproduced, sometimes without any changes in view to consolidate the defense rights in our country.

Une étude des instruments juridiques réglementant le droit de la famille en Afrique francophone (des coutumes aux différents codes des personnes et de la famille en passant par le code civil) permet de constater son évolution à la lumière de certains principes fondamentaux. En effet, les codes des personnes et de la famille consacre l’égalité des enfants quelle que soit l’origine de leur filiation, mettant fin aux discriminations contre les enfants nés hors mariage. Ces différents codes ne sont que la résultante des instruments internationaux ratifiés par ces pays (Convention internationale relative aux droits de l’enfant, Charte africaine des droits de l’homme et des peuples) et des instruments nationaux notamment la Constitution. Entré dans le droit familial en Afrique, le principe d’égalité est d’application difficile à cause des problèmes juridiques et des pesanteurs psychosociologiques. L’auteur applique son analyse sur le Code des Personnes et de la Famille du Bénin, et après avoir présenté les nouvelles règles de filiation et de succession, il expose les conditions de l’application effective de l’égalité des droits des enfants légitimes et naturels dans le contexte africain.

Au Bénin, le droit judiciaire privé a changé avec l’entrée en vigueur du code de procédure civile, commerciale, sociale, administrative et des comptes (Loi n° 2008-07 du 28 février 2011). A travers ce code à dimension processuelle, le législateur a instauré une réforme d’envergure, qui met fin à l’application des lois de procédure françaises d’avant 1960 et d’autres textes coloniaux encore plus obsolètes. Au regard de la célébration contemporaine des droits de l’homme, il est question de savoir si la réforme des textes procéduraux au Bénin est conforme aux standards du modèle universel de procès équitable. En s’appuyant sur des sources conventionnelle, doctrinale et jurisprudentielle de référence, l’auteur étudie les garanties du droit à un procès équitable dans le nouveau Code de procédure et soutient que les efforts du législateur béninois contribueront à améliorer le sort des plaideurs, en dépit des points d’ombres et de contradictions qu’il a également relevés. L’ambition du présent ouvrage est de présenter aux professionnels ainsi qu’aux consommateurs du procès, une étude de l’exportation du modèle universel de procès équitable vers les juridictions nationales en Afrique.
